Doors - Part 2

by Nina Kolarzik and Julia Glatthaar

Doors open ways to houses and rooms, to the outside world, to prisons and freedoms. To different worlds. Behind each door to a room is a world a person has created.

Doors see people come and go, day by day. They observe who is entering and how often, they recognize who does not enter. They carry the marks of time passing, the memories, the family photo you pinned on it, the scratch from the one time you bumped against it with a chair. Whether produced by the village carpenter or mass fabricated, when in use each door becomes unique. Red, blue, green, gray, new, old, broken, shiny, made of wood, metal, glass.
