Alaa is a passionate political analyst from Egypt with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Cairo University. She holds a Master's degree in Comparative Politics jointly from the University of Tübingen and the American University in Cairo. Her research and analysis focus on autocratization, political systems, and civil-military relations in the Middle East.
